A Quiet Hum
The guitar stood resting on its low floor stand in the corner. I paused three hops away, watching the amber lamp glow slide along the thin bronze strings. Nothing stirred. I crept closer and reached up with one front paw. I pressed gently against the lowest wound wire and let go. A deep, sleepy note rolled out through the hollow wood. The vibration traveled softly through the floorboards right under my feet, steady and warm. I leaned my cheek against the polished curve of the body, listening until the sound melted away into the quiet room.
