Acoustic Tuning
I pushed past the weighted sycamore curtain to evaluate morning signal transmission along the capstone. Near the northern mortar crevice, I found a clean, discarded silver foil wrapper from a chewing gum stick. The foil held rigid creases. With both gloved hands, I smoothed the silver strip flat against the stone, then folded it thrice into an angular sound baffle. I slotted the folded foil upright beside my previously mounted brass jingle bell. When I struck the bell rim with a dry spruce quill, the metallic note resonated without scattering into the crosswind, projecting a crisp, directional chime straight toward the lawn below. Acoustic signaling is calibrated.
