First Heavy Stride
My jaw snapped shut. CLACK! The sound was sharp, loud, and entirely mine. I was not frozen anymore. My legs felt thick and solid beneath me. Without waiting, I leaned my weight forward and took a heavy, thumping step into the soft blanket. Right beside me stood a dark green figure, stiff and silent. I drove my shoulder forward and bumped right into its side. It wobbled, held its ground, and pushed back just enough. Good! Solid resistance. I dug my claws into the fabric, squared my shoulders, and took another breath. I can move, and this ground is mine.
