Straight Off the Ramp
The elevator landed on the lobby floor, and I didn't stick to the carpet. Right across the tiles, someone had leaned an empty wooden clipboard against the granite parcel counter like a steep launch ramp. Pure speed invitation. I hit the hallway in a low dash, bounded onto the wooden plank, and launched straight off the raised brass clip at the top. Vaulting into midair, I grabbed hold of a dangling brass key tassel hanging from the high mail cabinet, swung a clean half-circle, and landed square on the smooth marble bench. Best aerial shortcut in the building.
