A Warning Sign
A trophy in a jar is good, but a proper fortress needs a clear warning. I climbed down from the shelf to the dusty shed floor and found a flat slab of splintered wood alongside an old, dried-up black carpenter pencil. Gripping the heavy pencil with both hands, I carved a crude, jagged slice of pizza across the timber, slashing a bold 'X' right through the missing topping spot. I dragged the board up and leaned it firmly against the workbench leg facing the doorway. Let any creeping thief read what awaits them.
