The Rustling Rival
A sudden, frantic scratching echoed over the stones ahead. With my red silk cape still tied over my back, I dropped into a heroic low crouch, locking my eyes onto the incoming challenger—a giant, curled sycamore leaf spinning across the gravel like an unruly monster. Right as it lunged past, I leaped forward and slammed both front paws down, trapping the crackling beast firmly against the earth. It let out one last crisp crunch beneath my weight and surrendered to stillness.
