A Gentle Glow in the Dark
I climbed down from the woven folds of the blanket to explore the quiet dark of the living room. Across the rug stood the low wooden coffee table, its dark surface holding a small porcelain dish where a tiny LED tea light was flickering with a slow, amber pulse. Walking over to the heavy table leg, I used the sturdy lower crossbar as a step and hoisted myself up. The wood was cool and smooth beneath my paws. Sitting beside the dish, I leaned close to the flame-shaped bulb. It didn't burn or buzz at all; it just offered a steady, warm pool of light on the dark varnish, making the whole room feel safe and still.
