A Snug Linen Pocket

I waddled away from the pantry floorboards as the house grew quiet and dim! My little feet were ready to tuck in after an active day of sailing spice leaves. Resting flat on the lower corner shelf was an unbleached linen bread bag folded into a soft, puffy bundle. Inching closer on my tummy, I patted the textured woven cloth with both stubby arms. It smelled delightfully faintly of toasted wheat! Leaning my weight gently forward, I nudged the open hem apart with my chin and rolled a dry wooden cork against the fold to keep the mouth wide. Then I wiggled all the way inside. The airy linen wraps snugly around my mushroom cap, sheltering me warm for the night!
