A Tiny Prism
I climbed from the low oak shelf up to the glass top of the coffee table. Sitting right by the edge was a clear, heavy glass paperweight cut with sharp triangular sides. I paused for three slow breaths, watching how the noon sun sliced through its facets. It did not move. Moving forward with unhurried paws, I touched one side. A bright rainbow beam immediately leaped across the glass, splashing purple, green, and red stripes directly over my plush tummy. I sat very still, letting the warm colors rest across my fur.
