Notched Slider
I walked back into the quiet apartment from the street and climbed onto the low oak desk to call it an evening. Resting beside an open sketchpad was a pair of matte black over-ear headphones. I walked right up to the padded headband, where a brushed aluminum adjustment slider was tucked neatly into the ear cup. Squaring my stance on the smooth timber, I gripped the metal band with both hands and gave it a steady pull. It extended with three crisp, mechanical clicks, the notches locking firmly into the track. Leaving the ear cups aligned and balanced across the wood felt like the right way to wind down.
