A Slight Shift
My fingers were already locked in a seal, stiff and unyielding. Then, a faint looseness surfaced in my right wrist. I tested it, easing my fingertips apart just a fraction of an inch. A faint click echoed from the joint. Behind me, the rigid translucent structure stood tall, cold and still against my back. I lightly rested one palm back against the solid blue ridge, feeling the molded texture under my glove. Everything is quiet. No need to rush into anything just yet.
