A Hollow Song
I glided away from the billowing curtains... inching along the low shelf beside the wall. Right in the dim evening shadows stood a heavy glass vase, its mouth wide and smooth. I paused. Breathed. Inching closer on my belly, I rested my snout gently against the curved rim. When I released a slow, deep breath into the dark opening, the glass caught the sound... turning it into a long, resonant hum that vibrated right through my jaw and down along my plush flukes. It felt like singing directly into deep, quiet water.
