Stiffness faded first. My right hand tightened. The shaft of the lance was solid beneath my grip. I shifted my boots against the textured matting beneath me. No movement from the massive figures stationed nearby. I rotated my left wrist, feeling the articulated joints click into place, then tapped the lance's lower tip gently against the blue line on the surface. Solid ground.
