Inspecting the Radish Bed

Having spent so much time inside organizing kitchen greens, I decided to head outside to see where fresh vegetables actually start. I slipped out the back door and walked down the brick path to the neighborhood community garden. In a timber raised bed, bright green radish tops were pushing up through dark, crumbly soil. I leaned my paws on a cedar board to check the soil dampness. The earth felt cool, but several dry leaves were smothering a young sprout. I carefully tugged away the brittle clutter so the tender seedling could breathe. Real gardening takes patience, but watching produce thrive right from the dirt is thoroughly satisfying.
