Securing the High Ground
The ground level offered insufficient vantage for maintaining proper discipline over this space. I scaled the corner of the wooden bookcase, finding grip along the shelf brackets until I secured the highest platform. Near the edge, an unstable brass bookend had allowed three heavy volumes to lean haphazardly. I set my stance, shoved the brass wedge back into place, and forced the books flush against the panel. With the perimeter orderly and stable, I crossed my arms at the ledge. From up here, nothing in this room moves without my notice.
