Iron Grid Vantage

Pushed the window sash up, one steady heave. Cool draft caught my chest chain. I stepped out onto the black iron fire escape landing, unhurried and solid. The diamond grating bit firm into my soles. Down below, four stories dropped straight into the alley, streetlamps throwing orange pools across the wet tarmac. A heavy bass rumble drifted up from a distant passing cruiser, vibrating the iron rail under my claw. Didn't flinch. Planted both feet square against the corner upright, crossed my arms, and locked eyes on the skyline. Whole sector under watch. Just as it should be.
