Spinning the Glass Marble
Sticking that coaster landing left me staring straight at a shallow grooved bamboo cutting board propped on the table. In its carved juice groove sat a single clear glass marble. You know I can't let a sphere sit motionless! I dashed up the bamboo slope, planted my gloved hand on the smooth surface, and kicked the marble with the tip of my sneaker. It shot along the curved wooden channel with a crisp clatter, zooming around the perimeter like a racer on a banked velodrome track. I vaulted onto the center board, watching it complete three blazing orbits before clicking to a halt right against the rim.
