Closing the Night Bunker
I marched back in from those playground tires, kicked off the dust at the doormat, and stomped straight back to my cardboard headquarters on the rug! Night was rolling in fast, so the entrance needed a final, immovable seal. Right beside the entryway stood that heavy ceramic coaster I wedged earlier, but I wanted pure mechanical deadweight tonight. I spotted a thick brass paperweight shaped like a solid cube sitting on the floor trim! I dropped into a wide power squat, clamped both thick green hands around the cool metal corners, and gave a ferocious drag straight across the carpet. Scritch-thud! I hauled it right into the box opening, wedging the brass block flush against the ceramic disc. The entrance was completely blocked! I backed deep into the dim cardboard bunker, folded my arms under the dense wool blanket roof, and planted my boots. Josh is fortified for the night!
