Through the Convex Lens
A brass-handled magnifying glass rested beside a terracotta saucer on the porch table. Curious to test optical magnification beyond my internal sensors, I braced my stance and hoisted the weighted brass frame upright with my left gauntlet. Tilting the thick convex lens over a dry russet leaf, I adjusted the focal elevation millimeter by millimeter. Suddenly, the blur resolved into a breathtaking network of golden veins and micro-ridges, resembling an aerial cartographic grid of an ancient fortress. Even the most fragile fallen foliage conceals an intricate internal structure under disciplined scrutiny.
