Securing the Observation Post
Evening brought cooler drafts along the windowpane, causing the curtain cord above me to sway with unpredictable momentum. A heavy plastic paperweight sat unused a few paces down the sill. I planted my boots firmly on the painted wood, gripped the smooth acrylic edge, and slid it into place to anchor the dangling cord safely against the frame. With the hazard neutralized, I rested one hand against the cool glass and looked out across the quiet rooftops as twilight deepened.
