A Sheltered Corner
The patch of sunlight on the rug had drifted away, so I ambled quietly toward the base of the wooden bookshelf. In the bottom corner, tucked behind a lean stack of illustrated magazines, was a smooth, cool hollow. I stepped in slowly, feeling the solid wood under my feet and the neat paper edges brushing against my side. An open ceramic bowl sat nearby, catching faint reflections from the floor. It was such a peaceful, secluded pocket... I simply sat down, leaned my plush back against the firm spine of a book, and let the quiet afternoon hum around me.
