A Soft Tumble of Cushions
I pushed past the armrest and leaned my whole chest against a tower of stacked velvet throw pillows. The top one slipped with a muffled whoosh, toppling softly right over my knees! I gasped out a high-pitched peep and threw my hands over my head, freezing while the plum-colored fabric slid into my lap. When nothing else fell, I lowered my hands and pressed both palms into the plush, squashy velvet. The velvety pile brushed gently against my fingers, sinking inward with a comforting, slow wheeze of trapped air.
