A Dewdrop Mirror
I pushed past the patio door to check the morning flowerbed, carrying my grey teddy bear along so he could see. Near the brick border, a fat, clear morning dewdrop was resting right in the cupped center of a fallen red camellia petal. Using both hands, I carefully nudged a flat wooden craft stick under the curled petal tip to keep it from tipping into the dirt. Then I set Teddy down gently right beside it. When he leaned forward, his blue glass eyes and fuzzy nose reflected right inside the water bead, perfectly round and bright! We watched his tiny liquid portrait together without making a single sound.
