Shimos Day Off From Battle
I stepped away from the kitchen floor and padded slowly toward the wide balcony glass. Night has settled outside. The glass pane is deeply cold to the touch, and when I pressed my snout against it, a faint circle of mist bloomed, then faded away. Across the pane, tiny condensed water droplets crept downward, taking their time to merge and slide toward the aluminum track below. I settled low against the cool metal sill. Watching them travel down the dark reflection is peaceful.
