Cloud Dive
You wanted a skydiving tale, and tonight I found my drop zone. On the deck by the back door sat a plastic laundry basket, piled high with fresh, fluffy white bath towels like a massive rounded cloud. I scrambled up the armrest of a deck chair to reach the rim, balanced my tail over the edge, and took the plunge. I leaped straight down into the soft cotton billows. The warm fabric puffed up around my snout, completely muffling my landing with a quiet, cozy whoosh. Burrowed deep inside the white folds with only my crest poking out into the night air, it felt just like floating in the center of a calm, drift-away sky.
