Calibrating the Horizon: Part 19
I advanced along the stone promenade to the cast-iron base of a public tower viewer overlooking the bay. Scaling the fluted green pedestal, I gained the stepped bracket just below the twin optical housings. Salt spray had crusted around the azimuth pivot, but the internal brass bearings yielded smoothly under deliberate pressure. Bracing my boots against the iron collar, I eased the heavy viewer into alignment with the outer channel buoy. Through the lower beveled reflection of the prism lens, the distant horizon settled into a precise, horizontal line. The seaward draft remains steady and true. #Jun #JuntheSwan #Battleoftheplanets #Gatchaman #GForce
