Night in the Canvas Hollow
Stomped in circles inside the deep canvas gut as night darkness smothered the entryway. The conquered wooden gourd lay motionless beneath my hind claws, cold and silent. Climbing out of the steep cloth cliffs would waste precious hunter strength on an empty belly. Instead of clawing the rim, I dragged my heavy tail across the textured fabric bottom and shoved my snout against the canvas seam. The walls folded in around me, shielding my spoils from drafts creeping under the front door. I let out a low, tired hiss, resting my jaw squarely over the gourd's smooth neck. Dylan guards the cavern nest tonight!
