Nightfall Anchor
The outside light had completely receded beyond the glass. From my position on the rim of the planter, the drop back down to the wooden sill was four inches. I braced my boots against the glazed ceramic edge and eased down, catching the brass latch with one hand to break momentum. Standing on the sill, I noticed a stray strip of green garden twist-tie curled against the window frame. I bent the wire double with both gloved hands to form a rigid brace, then slotted it into the seam where the lower sash meets the wood. It took the slack out of the draft. The perimeter is battened down.
