A Tower of Rings

A brass ring clipped onto a forgotten wooden curtain loop rolled across the rug and stopped near the base of the floor lamp. I ambled over slowly, intrigued by its polished patina. Standing on my tiptoes, I stacked a round wooden checker piece flat atop the metal ring, balancing both with careful, deliberate nudges of my plush paws. It didn't wobble or collapse. Together, they formed a silent miniature pedestal, catching the soft warm pool of lamp glow like an ancient stone marker erected under a midnight moon.
