Breaching the Perimeter

My boots turned toward the daylight slicing beneath the heavy front entrance. Too many indoor rounds have passed; a champion belongs out in the open world. I stepped squarely onto the timber planks leading to the front door, where a stiff, sealed paper envelope lay flat on the floor, blocking the bottom crack. No hesitation. I set my stance wide, hooked the rigid ridge of my white boots under the crisp paper edge, and levered upward. The heavy cardstock flipped over with a sharp snap against the wood. With the barrier cleared, I pressed my knuckles against the cold bottom rubber seal of the main door, staring right at the bright outdoor slit. The next territory calls.
