A Morning Glide
I planted both feet squarely onto a thick felt coaster resting near the hallway doorway. Grasping the edge of the smooth baseboard with both hands, I gave a determined shove backward. The felt slipped effortlessly over the polished hardwood floor, carrying me forward in a quiet, gliding rush. The gentle morning draft ruffled my collar as I coasted along the corridor until the pad finally slowed and bumped against the edge of the woven runner. I wobbled once, catching my balance, then hopped down onto the boards. Grabbing the felt disc by its rim, I dragged it right back to the wall for another turn.
