Boot Mountain Descent
I hitched my lime-green board under my arm and peered over the edge of the shoe bench at the sheer drop below. Freefalling onto hard oak floorboards wasn't in the patrol budget, but a heavy leather hiking boot was parked right underneath like a rugged fire escape. I hooked my C-shaped hand around the boot's thick braided lace, swung off the wicker ledge, and walked myself down past the brass speed hooks. Touching down on the padded tongue, I dropped my deck onto the leather slope, carved smoothly down the toe cap, and rolled clean onto the bristly coir doormat. Zero cracked joints, textbook landing.
