Breaking Free
Plastic web clung to my fist. Annoying. Tight. I braced both feet against the smooth wooden base of the cabinet and gripped the tangled strands with my free hand. Hard pull. Sharp snap. The clear plastic cracked and tore loose from my knuckles, clattering onto the shelf. I flexed my fingers. Free. Next was the boundary. I threw my shoulder flat against the sliding glass panel and pushed with everything in my legs. The glass ground slowly along its track with a low screech, leaving a gap wide enough to reach through. Fresh air drifted in. Done being stuck.
