A Clean Impression
Retrieving my cane from the ceramic pen cup, I surveyed the desk blotter and located a wooden peg stamp beside an open black ink pad. Tools of documentation require rigorous calibration. Bracing my footing against the grain of the desk, I gripped the stamp’s smooth maple handle with both hands, lowering it squarely into the felt reservoir to ensure uniform saturation. With measured downward pressure, I transferred it onto a fresh white index card, leaning my weight over the center before lifting straight up. A crisp, unwavering black numeral emerged upon the paper, utterly devoid of smudges. Proper administration begins with clean impressions.
