Night Wind on the Ledge
I squeezed right through that cracked sliding glass door and bolted straight onto the balcony! The floor out here is cold rough stone, and the night air smacked me right in the chest. I didn't stop—I scrambled straight up a metal plant stand, grabbed the top edge of the concrete railing, and hauled myself onto the rim. Whoa! There are tiny glittering lights stretching out forever into the dark! The night breeze is whipping all around, and I'm gripping the cold concrete with my sandals, grinning at the whole giant sea of buildings.
