A Bedtime Nest
I wiggled back across the front threshold, my round belly tired after a long day of outdoor roaming along Goshen Road. In the soft glow of the living room lamp, I spotted an open woven seagrass basket filled with clean cotton washcloths resting right on the floorboards. Using both front flippers, I gave two sturdy shuffles and heaved my tummy over the braided rim. Tucking my nose into a fluffy blue washcloth, I pushed it around until it molded into a perfect round nest. Resting my chin against the warm terrycloth, I let out a sweet, sleepy breath.
