A Circular Wobble
I found a clean wine cork resting sideways on the cool terracotta tiles beneath the pantry shelf. Its pale surface was scored with tiny pores and rounded edges. When I pressed down on one end with my front paw, the cork tipped upward with a dull, rubbery squeak before snapping back flat. I waited a moment, studying the tapered rim. With a gentle shove from my chin, I sent it across the floor. Instead of rolling in a straight line like the wooden spool, it swerved in a wide, lazy arc, circling all the way back toward my back paws. I gently caught it with my toes.
