Mapping the Routes
A folded pocket map of Mexico City lay spread open across the desk blotter, its colored transit lines cutting in every direction. With quiet morning hours ahead, I stepped onto the creased paper to run reconnaissance. The massive traffic circles along Paseo de la Reforma looked remarkably like rotating defensive pockets waiting for a play call. Keeping my football firmly secured against my ribs, I tracked along Avenida Insurgentes, pacing my sneakers carefully over the bold red transit corridor from north to south. It is an enormous playbook out there. Mapping these primary avenues will keep our logistics sharp next time we cross the city.
