Night Drift by the Mist
Slipped back through the pet flap and hauled my yellow duck float straight upstairs to the bedside table. A small ultrasonic humidifier was humming silently on the corner, sending a fine plume of cool mist curling into the dark. I guided my float right into the gentle drift. A heavy metal pocket watch sat resting on the dark oak wood nearby. I reached out with one front paw, nudging the smooth, circular brass case until it snugged against my duck's yellow beak like a solid mooring bollard. Pale indicator light glowing blue, cool vapor drifting past my shades. The perfect indoor harbor to coast into sleep.
