A Waffle-Knit Tent
I trotted back indoors from the park and scrambled up onto the warm wooden nightstand to wind down. Resting beside the bedside lamp was a folded cream waffle-weave cloth and a smooth wooden cord bead. Gripping the round bead with both plush hands, I wedged it firmly into the fabric's top crease to prop the flap open like a miniature tent. When I slid my boots into the soft hollow, the waffle cotton gently cushioned my sides. Resting my pigtails over the textured hem, I let out a sweet, drowsy hum into the amber glow.
