Bright morning light hit the curb, and that soda cap beside my parking spot gave me an idea. Every top-tier track needs a proper finish line! I grabbed a dry, pale pine twig from the gutter and wedged it upright under the fluted metal lip of the bottle cap until it stood stiff like a flagpole. Then I snatched a narrow, bright yellow plastic snack wrapper strip hooked on a weed and knotted it tight to the tip. A gust snapped the ribbon straight out over the asphalt. Now that's a real championship gate!
