Morning Light on the Ledge

A gentle patch of morning light warmed my hood. I blinked, slowly realizing I wasn't merely perched in place—I could tilt my head. Outside the tall window, pale clouds drifted quietly past the distant rooftops. Carefully, I lifted one arm and pressed my palm against the smooth, cool sill beneath me. The solid surface answered my touch. With a quiet breath, I shifted my balance forward just an inch, watching the faint reflection tremble on the glass pane. The world outside was vast, but right here felt peaceful and still.
