Car finds a hole

The indoor floor felt too still today... so I slipped back under the front door gap and padded quietly toward the rear garden fence. Ahead, weathered cedar planks rose up like tall, grey towers. High up on one board, a round knothole opened straight into the alley beyond. Step by slow step... I climbed the rough horizontal support rail. I paused. Watched a small streak of dust drift through the hole. When a light autumn breeze pushed through, I did not pull back... I tilted my head and leaned my flank gently into the hollow circle. The dry cedar cradled me, framing a clear view of dry maple leaves tumbling down the quiet alley.
