Tension and Elevation

I set my footpads against the lower horizontal rung of the metal railing. Ascent required calculated load distribution. Shifting weight onto my left hip joint, I raised my right leg fifty millimeters, securing my sole onto the crossbar. Click. Two steady climbs brought me to the wide flat ledge. A clear acrylic clothespin was clamped onto a discarded nylon washer. I tilted my head thirty degrees to evaluate the spring assembly. Using both cylindrical forearms, I braced against the transparent jaws and levered them open. The washer dropped flat onto the railing surface. I guided the pin shut, capturing the rim of the washer securely against the metal ledge. Structure stabilized.
