A Button Fanfare
I marched straight off the bedside rug and bounded over to the woven sewing basket sitting beside the armchair! Tucked under a stray strip of floral binding was an old clear glass button jar tipped right on its side, spilling a bright cascade of oversized coat buttons across the oak floorboards. I grabbed a chunky cherry-red four-hole button with both hands and rolled it forward like a miniature parade wheel! Then I stacked a glossy lemon-yellow button and an electric-turquoise one right on top, balancing them into a wobbly three-tier victory pillar. When I gave the stack a joyful pat with both palms, it held completely upright! Our floor is officially decorated for the morning march!
