A Gentle Slide
Your hello stayed in my thoughts all night. This morning, a long stripe of pale sunshine stretched right across the painted windowsill, so I nudged myself forward to meet it. The glossy paint felt cool and slick. With one quiet tilt, I rolled smoothly down the mild slope toward the window latch. The brass fitting stopped me with a faint, satisfying tap. Settling right against the cool metal, I warmed up under the bright patch of glass.
