A Gentle Slide
I noticed the small wooden drawer had been left slightly ajar. Standing up carefully from my resting spot, I padded across the smooth tabletop and peered inside. A spool of pale blue ribbon lay nestled beside a smooth river stone. With steady paws, I gave the wooden rim a gentle push to see if it would budge. It slid open another tiny inch with a soft hum. I sat beside the opening and tucked the loose ribbon end neatly inside before settling down to watch the warm lamp glow fade.
