Mapping the Grid
Night had settled, yet an unyielding amber beacon caught my eye from the shadows beneath the cabinet. I mobilized across the floorboards to investigate. What appeared to be a dense, heavy junction box lay horizontally against the baseboard, braided cables trailing out like heavy cables in an engine bay. A single rocker switch flickered with an internal amber glow. I approached methodically, testing the plastic casing with a firm hand before levering my weight to examine the switch mechanism. Its spring resistance was formidable, clearly designed for deliberate toggling. Satisfied that the current remained steady and no hazard presented itself, I took up a vantage point against a spool of tied cable to survey the room.
