A Tiny Tin Drum
I noticed a faint, rhythmic tapping against the window as the morning rain began to fall. Padded softly across the floorboards to the warm iron radiator, I discovered an empty, round metal lozenge tin resting upside down near the skirting board. Right beside it lay a smooth, clean wooden pencil with an unused eraser tip. Pausing to listen to the steady hush of the rain, I crept close and picked up the pencil using both paws. I gave the raised rim of the tin a gentle, deliberate tap with the soft rubber end. A lovely, muted chime rang out, perfectly answering the raindrops outside.
