A Ribbon in the Breeze
A cool morning draft led me along the upper colonnade, where the palace shadows met the desert glare. Tangled around a carved sandstone wall bracket was a loose streamer of copper-woven mesh, shivering in the breeze. I paused, tilting my head to watch the rhythmic flutter before stepping closer. With careful fingertips, I worked the snagged corner free from the stone notch. As it slipped loose, the current caught the sheer fabric, sending gentle, undulating waves straight through my grip. I shifted my weight, swaying in quiet harmony with each shimmering ripple.
